    Portable Works Collection

     
    The Civic Arts Program of the Houston Arts Alliance has purchased work for the City of Houston Portable Works Collection. This permanent collection of the Houston Airport System, will showcase the work of local craft artists at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in dedicated display cases (under construction).

    CraftTexas 2012 is the 7th in a series of juried exhibitions at HCCC showcasing the best in Texas-made contemporary craft. This year the jurors will be Jean W. McLaughlin, Executive Director of the Penland School of Crafts; Rachelle Thiewes, metal and jewelry artist from El Paso, TX; and Jade Walker, Director of the Visual Arts Center and the Creative Research Laboratory at UT-Austin.

    We attended the GAS Conference in Toledo in June, commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Toledo Workshops which ushered in the Studio Glass Movement in the U.S.   2012 has been a yearlong celebration of the mystery, magic and wonder of glass.
