CraftTexas 2012 is the 7th in a series of juried exhibitions at HCCC showcasing the best in Texas-made contemporary craft. This year the jurors will be Jean W. McLaughlin, Executive Director of the Penland School of Crafts; Rachelle Thiewes, metal and jewelry artist from El Paso, TX; and Jade Walker, Director of the Visual Arts Center and the Creative Research Laboratory at UT-Austin.

Shifting Paradigms in Contemporary Ceramics: The Garth Clark and Mark Del Vecchio Collection

Major contemporary ceramics exhibition, showcasing nearly 200 works acquired by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston in 2007. This exhibition of modern and contemporary ceramics embodies 5 decades of collecting. The show organized by Cindi Strauss will present the Clark/Del Vecchio collection on a large scale for the first time. Opening weekend coincides with the annual Ruth K. This year's GAS Conference commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Toledo Workshops which ushered in the Studio Glass Movement in the U.S. 2012 will be a yearlong celebration of the mystery, magic and wonder of glass. The Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass is a great resource for information and a calendar of glass events.
While I was working on this piece, a pair of wrens built a nest and hatched a chick in the garage. When the chick fledged, they raised it all around the house and I would see it every day. So that is how the scroll with the story of the wrens raising their chick came to be inside the box. - Ellen
